Plan International is a global children's rights and gender equality organisation founded in 1937, running development programmes, emergency response and advocacy in more than 80 countries.

Plan International is a global children's rights and gender equality organisation founded in 1937. It works alongside communities to dismantle the barriers holding girls back, combining long-term development programmes with humanitarian emergency response. The organisation operates in more than 80 countries and has been active for over 85 years.

Its work falls into three areas. Community-based development programmes advance children's rights and equality for girls across education, protection from violence, youth empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health rights. Emergency response sits alongside this development programming. Policy and advocacy work seeks changes in policy and practice at local, national and global levels.

Plan International was originally established to support children orphaned during the Spanish Civil War. Its current approach centres on empowering girls to lead and on engaging boys and young men as allies, with an emphasis on systemic change and the dismantling of structural inequality.
