Forerunner builds an AI-powered platform that transforms complex geospatial data into actionable insights for government agencies. The Forerunner Platform serves as an operating system for public-sector organisations, replacing legacy tools to support floodplain management, climate adaptation planning, emergency response coordination, and permitting processes. The system provides real-time flood visualisations, automated workflows, and decision-support tools derived from geospatial data analysis.
The company's technical work spans artificial intelligence, geospatial data processing, real-time visualisation, and automated workflow design. More than 190 government agencies currently rely on the platform, and the company has raised $39M in funding.
Forerunner's engineering culture emphasises close collaboration between technical teams and the public servants who use the product. Engineers, product managers, designers, and customer success staff work without silos, and teams hear directly from end users to shape what gets shipped. Engineers own features from database modelling through to the user interface, and the company uses AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.
